The Australian Government “Energy Efficiency Opportunities” is a program requiring corporations using over 0.5 PJ of energy to rigourously and comprehensively search for and evaluate opportunities to reduce energy consumption.
How much is 0.5 PJ? Roughly (depending on prices) O.5 PJ equates to:
- Natural Gas: A$M 1.5 to 2.5
- Electricity: A$M 6 to 12
- Diesel fuel: A$M 11 to 14
How can we help you? We will show you how to maximise the “whole of business” benefits of participation in the EEO while minimising total costs. We have a very good understanding of the EEO program and its requirements.
Can we take care of EEO compliance for you? No. (And beware of consultants who tell you differently). The EEO process really needs to be undertaken by the participating company and its staff. While it is important for “fresh eyes” and different perspectives to be utilised, and to incorporate the knowledge and skills of equipment suppliers and specialists, the participating company must, well, participate. Involving staff in the EEO process will not only assist in complying with the EEO requirements, but will maximise the energy efficiency opportunities identified and implemented, and will result in other non-energy benefits (productivity, yield, OH&S, capacity, maintainability, etc).
What areas of energy use can you help us with? We can help you to identify energy efficiency opportunities in:
- manufacturing,
- mining, mineral processing and basic metals transforming,
- transport (trucking, rail, shipping),
- power generation, transmission, distribution, and cogeneration,
- water treatment and pumping,
- energy metering, sub-metering, monitoring, telemetry and energy usage analysis.
We can also facilitate energy opportunity workshops and in-house energy management programs, and can assist you to develop assessment and reporting schedules and “representative assessments”. Please contact us to discuss how this can work.
